As reported by MamStartup, Kraków-based startup Airly that specializes in providing real-time data about air pollution has raised $2 million in Seed funding. Private investors Sophia Bendz, Martin Tajur, Konstantin von Unger, Piotr Jakubowski, Ron Dembo, as well as Richard Branson Family Office and Polish fund Bitspiration Booster participated in the round.

Airly, which was founded in 2016, develops air quality monitoring and measuring tools. Based on data science technology and AI algorithms, the system consists of sensors, small devices that measure the concentration of solid particles in the atmosphere by laser method and convert this information into data, Airly API service, MyAirly online map and Android / iOS mobile apps to check the air quality information.

In addition, the startup received ca. $1 million from National Center for Research and Development for the researches of a new version of air quality mapping system with the use of mobile wireless sensor networks, as well as for the further international growth. To date, the 4,000 sensors are already installed in 20 countries including the United Arab Emirates and Nigeria. 

This year Airly also registered the company in the United States, changed its own branding and launched e-commerce to develop Airly as a global brand.
