German ridesharing startup Bliq has raised €2 million in a Seed funding round led by Berlin-based investor Amplifier Ventures and New York-based Space Capital. Atlantic Labs, Proeza Ventures, Revel and the business angel Andreas Kupke also participated, EU-Startups reports

Bliq, which was founded in 2018 by CEO Julian Glaab, COO Johannes Riedel and CTO Torgen Hauschild, develops the Bliq Ride app for self-employed drivers. It allows registered users to check, accept or reject orders from multiple ridesharing providers including Uber, Bolt among others, through a single platform.

“Until recently, innovations in urban mobility have always focused on the end-user. The workers, the drivers who work every day for many of these services, have been left out. With Bliq, we are making it easier for drivers to do their daily work and ensure greater equality in a market dominated by a few powerful players,” the CEO explained.

The startup’s product is based on real-time traffic data that are provided by the drivers. Using edge computing and artificial intelligence, Bliq processes all the information to deliver drivers road insights. Besides, the app displays high demand passenger regions together with areas overpopulated with other drivers to enable users to plan their time and earnings.

Bliq services are currently available in Cologne, Berlin, and Munich. The new funding will allow the startup to continue European expansion and further develop the functional scope of Bliq Ride.
