The Barcelona-based orthodontic startup Impress has raised $100 million of a proposed $125 million Series B round, with the second closing of $25 million on its way, TechCrunch informs. The Ukrainian VC investment company TA Ventures and private investor club ICLUB, which have been supporting the Spanish startup since its first funding round, are among the investors. The post-money valuation has not been disclosed, but according to AIN.Capital information, it is less than $1 billion.
- Founded in 2019 in Barcelona by orthodontist Dr. Khaled Kasem and entrepreneurs Diliara and Vladimir Lupenko, Impress specializes exclusively in invisible orthodontics, a treatment that consists of using a set of transparent aligners, personalized with AI-assisted 3D scanning for each patient.
- The startup’s methodology combines traditional treatment with the latest technology, individualized app-based digital monitoring 24/7 from anywhere, and a qualified medical team.
- TA Ventures and ICLUB were among the first investors of Impress back in 2019. In October 2020, they participated in a startup’s $5.8 million seed round. According to Forbes Ukraine, the deal amounted to $1 million. TA Ventures partner, Oleh Malenkov, became a member of Impress’ board that time. In May 2021, TA Ventures and ICLUB joined the startup’s $50M Series A round.
- Impress has a chain of orthodontic clinics in Europe. In January 2022, it entered the Ukrainian market by acquiring the startup OrthoS with clinics in Kyiv, Khmelnytskyi, Lviv, and Dnipro. According to Malenkov, TA Ventures expects Impress to become a business worth more than $10 billion.
- Now the startup works in more than 130 cities in eight European countries and plans to expand internationally.
