Helsinki-based voice interaction technology startup Speechly has been acquired by Roblox, an online gaming and communication platform. Speechly specializes in speech recognition and natural language understanding tools, ArcticStartup reports.

  • Founded in 2016 in Helsinki, Speechly is a YC backed company developing voice interaction and speech recognition technology. Speechly offers libraries for various platforms, enabling developers to enhance online interactions by incorporating voice features into digital experiences. This allows to boost engagement and retention.

  • The buyer, Roblox is a globally renowned online platform and game creation system that allows users to design and develop their own gaming experiences within massive 3D worlds. Developed by Roblox Studio, the platform has over 230 million registered players and 65.5 million daily players, out of which 9.5 million are in-game developers.
  • The companies did not disclose the amount of the deal. However, this strategic acquisition is a significant step towards enhancing the safety and interactivity of the Roblox platform. The collaboration between the companies will greatly improve online communication and gaming experience.
