Broswarm, a Lithuanian defense tech startup focusing on mine detection, has secured €800,000 in funding from ScaleWolf to expedite the development of its proprietary X-Ray Eagle sensor..The startup shared the news with AIN.
About Broswarm
-
Broswarm is developing the X-Ray Eagle sensor to improve mine detection in conflict zones. The sensor uses advanced radio waves to create 3D images of buried objects, allowing it to detect items up to 0.5 meters deep.
-
Broswarm's goal is to reduce false positives and provide reliable visual data for faster, more effective mine clearance, paving the way for safer demining operations.
-
The sensor was recognized at NATO's 2024 Innovation Challenge.

“Our testing with drones and existing technologies has shown that terrain like Ukraine’s makes accurate detection of small objects underground incredibly challenging. That’s why we’re doubling down on deep tech with the X-Ray Eagle, which delivers a groundbreaking level of accuracy and depth perception for landmine detection. We demonstrated this technology at the NATO Innovation Challenge, where it earned first place with outstanding results,” Ernestas Žvaigždinas, co-founder and CEO of Broswarm, said.
Investment details
-
Lithuanian fund ScaleWolf led the investment. It is a first of its kind VC fund and an allied technology accelerator program in Lithuanian focusing on dual use technologies that can cater to defense as well as commercial applications simultaneously.
-
Broswarm has also partnered with the Lithuanian Ministry of Defence to develop demining technology, hiring a renowned physicist and signing a contract.
“Their X-Ray Eagle sensor technology will offer an unmatched advantage, positioning them well ahead in landmine detection. With this level of accuracy, Broswarm’s technology will not only be able to clear mines from secure areas, but also support troops on the ground to maneuver faster and more safely through landmine-infested front line areas,” Edvinas Skerza, Managing Partner at ScaleWolf and former Vice Minister of Defense of Lithuania, said.
-
With fresh funds, the company plans to expedite R&D, refine, and patent X-Ray Eagle technology, aiming for a field-ready prototype for large-scale deployment and further field tests within 12 months.
The startup’s final goal is helping to de-mine Ukraine, where more than 30% of the territory is considered to be contaminated with mines, dense vegetation and uneven terrain complicate demining efforts and make accurate detection of small objects underground incredibly difficult.
Earlier this year, AIN featured Broswarm in our Startup of the Day column, which you can read here.
