American-Ukrainian quantum computing startup Haiqu in collaboration with Open Quantum Design and Xanadu has received $1.6 million from Canada’s DIGITAL innovation cluster for the Compilation Open DEsign (CODE) project. The startup announced this on its LinkedIn page.
- The project aims to accelerate research and innovation in Canada by providing open access to the development of new applications of quantum technologies. The total cost of the CODE project is $4.1 million.
- Haiqu, which specializes in advanced quantum computing solutions, will collaborate on the project with Xanadu, a Canadian quantum hardware and software company, and Open Quantum Design (OQD), a non-profit organization building the world's first full-fledged open-source quantum computer.
- As part of the CODE project, the companies are developing the Catalyst compiler, a computer program that translates hybrid quantum-classical programs into machine instructions that can be easily executed on quantum hardware.
- Catalyst will become a bridge between quantum and conventional computers and will play an important role in the development of quantum technology applications.
- The CODE project aims to accelerate Canadian innovation and research by providing access to open-source quantum computing, supporting quantum workforce development, and advancing quantum technologies through shared resources and knowledge.
As a reminder, Haiqu was included in the list of 11 most promising quantum companies in Europe, compiled by Sifted.
