The US-Ukrainian space company Firefly offered the Pivdenmash plant a contract for the serial production of rocket components. This was announced on Facebook by the head of the Eidos analytical center, Viktor Taran, who attached a photo of a commercial offer from Firefly to his post.
According to Taran, the preliminary value of the contract is $15 million.
This amount will allow the company to repay its debts. As of 2019, the total debt of the Southern Machine-Building Plant is UAH 375 million. This includes wage arrears, electricity, and taxes.
The plant is to produce rocket parts, including 100 combustion chambers, 500 automation units, and 40 turbopumps, for Firefly Aerospace.
“Such cooperation was made possible thanks to the bill allowing private companies into space industry adopted a month ago,” the expert wrote.
