AVentures Capital has published its annual overview of the Ukrainian tech investment industry DealBook. The editorial staff of AIN.UA chose the highlights.
Key facts
The total funding volume into the Ukrainian IT industry was record-breaking in 2019. For the first time, total investments surpassed a $0.5B mark, totaling $544 million.
More than 75% of this amount was raised as late-stage funding rounds by three companies:
- Grammarly – $1+ billion last round valuation ,
- GitLab – $2.5 billion valuation,
- People.ai – $0.5 billion.
The volume of deals in the early stages did not change compared to 2018. The total amount raised Seed and A Rounds funding accounts $44 million.
The Ukrainian product companies have made exits for a total of $478 million. Most of the exits are up to $100 million, while startups evaluated above this amount remain private companies.

They also separately showed the investments of software development companies. The amounts of deals are not disclosed.

Most investments in Ukrainian startups were made by foreign investors at both seed and growth stages.
