Bucharest-based Questo, the platform for city exploration games, raises $353K in a Seed round. The round was led by Sparking Capital and Early Game Ventures. Into account, Sparking Capital is a venture capital micro fund backing entrepreneurs with unique industry insights, focused on pre-seed & seed investments and Early Game Ventures is an early-stage venture capital firm investing in companies that jumpstart new industries in the emerging markets of Europe.
Founded in early 2017 by the CEO Alex Govoreanu and COO Claudiu Petria, Questo helps travelers and locals discover new places around the world while finding out their hidden stories by solving clues. It is called a ‘quest’ and each quest is based on a specific theme, which can be inspired by a movie, a book, or just a local legend.
The raised funds will be spent on continuing its partnerships with international tour operators, and to further improvement of the technology to provide a fun and equally safe city discovering experience for tourists. Nowadays, the platform is available in 70 cities worldwide and Questo aims to become available in 100 cities by the end of 2020.
Alex Govoreanu, co-founder and CEO, says:
“We’re transforming city exploration into a fun game that’s safe to play on your own. For this, we partner with tour operators and storytellers from all around the world, who are creating their own games. Our model is so scalable that we could launch Questo in every city in the world. And we’ll probably do that.”
