Ziticity, an urban logistics platform from Lithuania, has raised $2.5 million in a Seed funding round. The Seed equity investment round was led by NordicNinja VC with the support of Japanese companies such as JBIC, Honda, Omron, and Panasonic in participation with Superhero Capital VC, Practica Capital, StartupWiseGuys, and Superangel VC. ZITICITY has raised a total of $2.9 million in funding over 4 rounds, Crunchbase reports.
Founded in 2017 by the CEO Laimonas Noreika, ZITICITY is aimed to help local businesses competing with major players such as Amazon and Alibaba, by providing same-day deliveries. It is a perfect solution for any business that needs to deliver items to its customers on the same-day or even the same hour.
Presently, ZITYCITY is only active in France and the Baltics, but with the money, the Lithuanian last-mile delivery startup wants to expand in Europe and to revolutionize last-mile delivery. Into account, since the launch three years ago, ZITYCITY has been used by over 2700 companies, including Tele2, Pizza Hut, and the pharmacy network of Euroapotecha.
Laimonas Noreika, the founder and CEO of ZITICITY, said:
“Local e-commerce cannot compete on product price with Amazon and Alibaba. To have a fighting chance with global tech giants that are building monopolies in e-commerce and restaurant delivery space, we have been able to build a direct service for local merchants to compete locally.”
Tomosaku Sohara, Managing Partner at NordicNinja VC, added:
“The delivery industry is expected to increase dramatically and 2.1 billion people are expected to buy goods online by 2021. On top of that, current global pandemic changes people’s behavior and habits like how they buy, sell and eat at an unprecedented rate of change. We believe that ZITICITY’s solution is a kind of silver lining approach for the industry and end-users which need to adjust for new normal.”
