Swedish-Polish startup SunRoof has closed a €2 million Seed round led by SMOK Ventures with the participation of LT Capital, EIT InnoEnergy, FD Growth Capital, KnowledgeHub and local business angels, the company says in its press release.
Established in 2013 in Sweden, SunRoof develops solar 2-in-1 roofs and facades, as well as solutions to support smart energy management. After the team enforcements – current CEO Lech Kaniuk joined the company in 2018, Marek Zmyslowski and Rafal Plutecki in 2019, SunRoof recorded 500% year-on-year growth. To date, the startup has installed over 100 roofs in Sweden, Norway, and Poland.
In August 2020, SunRoof acquired a Swedish developer of hardware and software to support renewable energy producers Redlogger. The plan is to use Redlogger infrastructure to create a tech platform for selling surplus energy generated by SunRoof solar panels that can compete with Tesla’s Autobidder, Lech Kaniuk claimed.
«We will use the funding from this round to develop solar technology and a digital platform for monitoring and efficiently managing our customer’s electricity needs. We are currently creating a unique energy marketplace based on the Redlogger that we acquired over a month ago. We are also strengthening our position in Sweden, Poland, and Norway, and are introducing SunRoof to a number of European markets,» the CEO told.
