SpaceSense, a startup that uses AI to obtain information from satellite images, has closed a $1.2 million Seed round. The round was led by Techmind, Space Ventures Investors, and Business Angels such as Marc Batty & Thomas Cabrol, co-founders of Dataiku. SpaceSense is supported by many actors, such as 50 partners, Ecole Polytechnique, the European Space Agency, and CNES, to achieve its goal of making satellite images available to as many people as possible.
Founded in 2019 by CEO Jyotsna Budideti and COO Sami Yacoubi, SpaceSense is aimed to help researchers use satellite data to get practical information for their businesses. The startup provides advanced satellite insights for digital farming solutions to predict agriculturally beneficial information. The long-term goal of SpaceSense is to reduce the complexity and therefore the cost of using satellite data and to make this technology a tool that anyone can use every day at a low cost.
These funds will allow them to develop their artificial intelligence platform and to recruit 7 engineers and doctors to accelerate its growth and reach its ambition, democratizing Space intelligence. Into account, SpaceSense has helped to monitor over 500,000 hectares across 7 countries and keeps on democratizing space intelligence.
Jyotsna Budideti, co-founder and CEO of SpaceSense, stated:
“By working on different projects using satellite imagery, I noticed that regardless of the final use case of the analysis, a significant part of my job was always the same. There was a possibility to create a tool that would significantly reduce the duration and complexity of these satellite imagery projects. This is SpaceSense’s goal. We position ourselves as a provider of ready-to-use satellite insights.”
