Kazakhstan e-commerce startup Arbuz.kz has raised $2 million from the owner of Aitas KZ Group, which consists of 12 enterprises in the field of plant growing, production and processing of poultry meat, Serik Tolukpaev, reports Kapital.
Arbuz.kz is an online supermarket that was launched in 2011 in Astana. On October 2020 its services expanded to Nur-Sultan. Since the company was founded, it has acquired over 50,000 active buyers and expects the number of service users to triple by the end of 2021.
“This deal is undoubtedly a new stage of development for our company. Our big idea has always been and remains to build the best online supermarket in Kazakhstan for our beloved customers. And we are very pleased that Serik Tolukpayev, one of the most experienced businessmen in the country, is joining our group of investors,” the current CEO of Arbuz.kz Aleksej Li said.
The company will invest the raised capital into the further development of its digital platform, as well as in improving the customer experience.
