Polish biotech company operating in the field of genetic laboratory diagnostics GeneMe has raised €5.2M million in a seed funding round led by Robin Tombs, co-founder of the global digital identity platform Yoti and previously of Gamesys, and other business angels, TechCrunch reports.

GeneMe is a spinoff from the Gdansk-based Institute of Biotechnology and Molecular Medicine that produces services related to polymorphisms analysis and broadly defined genetic tests. The startup has developed diagnostic kits for the detection of SARS-CoV-2 and more than 240 other pathogens. GeneMe’s technology makes the entire testing procedure more simple in comparison with standard laboratory-based RT-PCR tests. 

The company’s FRANKD solution was recognized by the Scottish government as the most accurate and rapid COVID-19 test on the market. It is already used in the different institutions of more than twenty countries including Heathrow Airport. As the CEO of GeneMe maintains, the startup will continue working on further diagnostics solutions development to enable everyone will be able to conduct genetic analysis at home in the future.
