Russian players started review bombing the cult Ukrainian game S.T.A.L.K.E.R. on Steam after its developers, GSC Game World, took their games down from the Russian store segment.
Starting March 8, Russians are no longer able to buy S.T.A.L.K.E.R. on Steam. The Ukraine-based studio GSC Game World took a stand against the war and supported the Ukrainian Armed Forces from the first day of this war. The team also announced that the development of the long-awaited S.T.A.L.K.E.R.2 to be postponed until Ukraine’s victory. Instead of the new release’s gameplay trailer, the team released a video to show the world what is really happening in Ukraine due to the Russian occupiers’ actions.
Russian players were outraged with the restriction and started massive dislike attacks on S.T.A.L.K.E.R. on its Steam page. Many called the developers’ actions “hypocrisy,” insisting that games are “out of politics” and ordinary players are “not guilty of anything.” Some even openly supported their country’s aggression against Ukraine.
We call on Ukrainians and citizens of other countries to support S.T.A.L.K.E.R. on Steam. To do this, visit the game page and write a positive review.
