Ukraine does not expect an attack from Belarus

When troops from Belarus entered Ukrainian territory on February 24, it came as a surprise to Ukraine: no attack was expected from there. This is one of the reasons why Russian troops were able to get to Kyiv so quickly. According to the presidential team, Ukraine has learned this lesson.

The entire direction of the border between Ukraine and Belarus is now fortified, troops have been deployed there, ready to resist a possible offensive. In addition, there is intelligence that monitors the movement of enemy troops. At the same time, the Defense Ministry is convinced that all the actions of Russian troops there are a distracting maneuver. Now they are ready to launch long-range missile strikes or mortar shelling, but not to launch a new offensive.

The same applies to the army of Belarus. The self-proclaimed President Lukashenko is inconsistent in his actions and statements, his orders on the army’s actions are not fully understood: training and relocation are ongoing. But Ukraine is convinced that the army of Belarus will not take part in the war, and all the maneuvers are just a desire to attract the attention of the Ukrainian military. Experts suggest that Lukashenko is taking such steps to side with Putin at the same time, but not to go directly to war.

At present, Belarus remains an external hostile element that prevents Ukraine from withdrawing more troops to the east, where the most brutal hostilities are taking place in Ukraine.
