The Espoo-based autonomous driving software platform Sensible 4 has secured additional $1.6 million funding in a Series A round. Metaplanet VC co-led the financing along with NordicNinja VC, family offices, and employees, ArcticStartup reports.
- Founded in 2017 by Harri Santamala, Jari Saarinen, Jussi Suomela, and Tommi Rimpiläinen, Sensible 4 develops full-stack autonomous driving software for commercial last-mile vehicles — DAWN. The software enables smooth and safe operations in all weather conditions.
- The Series A funding was co-led by Metaplanet VC and Japanese NordicNinja VC and further complemented by family offices and employees. Metaplanet VC is a firm owned by Skype co-founder Jaan Tallinn. It’s an early-stage investment firm that provides capital to deep tech startup founders.
“We’re proud to partner with Sensible 4 – a company that is shaping the future of transportation. Sensible 4’s product DAWN not only demonstrates how close we are to realising the benefit of autonomous mobility, but it also sets an unprecedented standard within the industry, due to its all-weather capability,”
Rauno Miljand, Managing Partner at Metaplanet, comments on the investment.
- The Series A funding helped Sensible 4 to bring in a total of $17.1 million in funding. In May 2022, the company completed an $8 million debt financing from European Investment Bank. And in February 2020, Sensible 4 raised the first $7 million in its Series A round.
- Thanks to the funding, Sensible 4 is now seeking to integrate its software into vehicles entering serial production starting from 2024 with its current and new customers.
