Regression Games, an American AI gaming and esports company, has closed a $4.2 million seed funding. New Enterprise Associates led the round, with participation from Andreesen Horowitz (a16z), BBQ Capital, and Roosh Ventures fund.

  • Founded in 2022 by Aaron Vontell, Regression Games is building a platform and ecosystem to make AI gaming and esports more accessible. The platform enables players to write code and AIs that control characters and strategize in real-time. These bots can compete in tournaments, top leaderboards, as well as collaborate with each other to improve.
  • Using the platform, players will program algorithms and machine learning models to battle others, rather than using traditional gaming methods. The AI platform will be able to integrate with existing and original games developed by Regression Games.
  • NEA, a global venture capital firm focused on tech and healthcare companies at all stages, is the leading investor in this round. Andreesen Horowitz (a16z), BBQ Capital, and the Roosh Ventures fund also participated along with several angels.
  • Regression Games plans to use the fresh funds to develop the initial platform and test AI-driven gaming. The company also wants to grow their engineering team, currently searching for Senior Software Engineers, Software Engineers, and a Senior Technical Game Designer.
