S.T.A.L.K.E.R. 2 developer GSC Game World has teamed up with the Ukrainian supermarket chain Silpo to open a grocery store in the style of S.T.A.L.K.E.R. 2: Heart of Chornobyl game in Kyiv. The idea of it arose back in the summer of last year, but the full-scale invasion Russia launched on February 24 changed the plans.

The Silpo chain of supermarkets is known for its creativity in concepts and store designs. Featuring artwork, props, and even various foodstuffs decorated with S.T.A.L.K.E.R. iconography, the supermarket looks like something straight out of the franchise’s fictional version of the Chornobyl Exclusion Zone.

The idea of the new S.T.A.L.K.E.R.-themed supermarket was especially well perceived by Ukrainians. This is not least because of Russia that, being defeated by Ukrainian Armed Forces and facing significant losses daily, systematically use the threats to deploy nuclear weapons in Ukraine as its “show of force” argument. Ukrainian Twitter community began to sneer at this.

S.T.A.L.K.E.R. 2: Heart of Chornobyl is a post-apocalyptic game series about the Chornobyl Exclusion Zone and the stalkers who explore it. The game is developed by a Ukrainian studio GSC Game World. The full-scale war of Russia against Ukraine affected the development process and the company in general. So the game’ is expected to launch in 2023 on Xbox and PC.
