The Warsaw-based fintech company BLIK has acquired VIAMO, a mobile payment platform from Slovakia. It is a 100% purchase agreement for an undisclosed amount. The deal is an important step in international development for BLIK, MamStartup reports.
- Founded in 2014, BLIK is a mobile payment system. It enables customers to make e-commerce and retail payments, withdraw cash from ATMs, and send transfers to other customers using the system. BLIK’s system is integrated to the Polish partnering banks systems, thus the user can have several apps on their phone working with BLIK.
“The popularization of BLIK as a comprehensive payment system on the Polish market has already become a fact. Today, our solution is actively used by over 11.3 million users and the number still grows. The acquisition of the Slovak company VIAMO is another important stage in our history, which will strengthen our position in the region,”
Dariusz Mazurkiewicz, president at BLIK’s operator PSP, comments on the deal.
- VIAMO is operating on the Slovak market since 2013. The company provides services in the field of P2P payments based on QR codes and links. Currently, it works closely with two Slovak banks — VÚB and Tatra banka, and has almost 300,000 active users.
- The deal contribute to BLIK’s products range expanding on the Polish market, as well as will support the Polish fintech company in its international scaling.
