The Warsaw-based foodtech startup Foodsi has raised about €1.2 million (6 million PLN) in a seed funding round. CofounderZone led the investment aimed at reducing food waste, My Company Polska reports.

  • Founded in 2019 by Mateusz Kowalczyk and Kuba Fryszczyna, Foodsi is on the mission to reduce the food waste. It helps retailers like restaurants, bakeries, and supermarkets to sell surplus food that would otherwise go to waste.
  • So far, the startup attracted over 800,000 users for their mobile app, including over 500,000 joining last year. Foodsi users can choose offers from over 3,000 premises all over Poland. According to the company, it helped to save 850,000 packages of food that could’ve gone to waste.

“Foodsi has the potential to become a significant player in the market of online services for gastronomy in Europe. And in the long term, it will bring money to all of us, reducing the amount of food waste,”

  • CofounderZone led the seed round. It is a Warsaw-based generalist fund that unites a group of private investors working in a wide range of industries. Satus Starter, a Polish venture capital, also participated in the funding. Business angels included Arkadiusz Krupicz and Piotr Czajkowski, founders of Pyszne.pl, also Marcin Celejwski, Piotr Markowski, and Bartosz Ciołkowski.
  • The fresh funds will help Foodsi in the further development of the platform and acquiring new partners. the startup is planning further expansion in Poland and intends to start operations in new markets next year.
