The Warsaw-based independent game developer Gruby Entertainment has welcomed Tencent as its shareholder. The company offered a minority equity stake to the holding for an undisclosed amount, Games Press reports.

  • Founded in 2020 by Grzegorz Michalak, Kamil Misiowiec, Paweł Siech, and Karol Szyszka, Gruby Entertainment is a small, independent, fully remote, game development studio based in Warsaw, Poland. Its founders have AAA games development backgrounds.
  • Gruby Entertainment’s team is working on its cyberpunk-themed, first-person shooter game — Deadlink. The game will launch early access for players on October 18, 2022.

“Gruby Entertainment studio celebrates its second anniversary this month, and we cannot imagine a better acknowledgment of our work than maintaining a long-term relationship with one of the world’s most-significant and technologically oriented companies. With Tencent’s backing, we are provided with extensive know-how and many new opportunities to expand our team and scope of our games,”

Grzegorz Michalak, Gruby CEO, comments on the deal.
  • Tencent, a Chinese holding, wants to enhance Gruby’s growth and build long-lasting ties focused on creating high-quality action games.
  • The studio will maintain complete creative and operational autonomy after the investment.
