One of the biggest e-commerce stores, Selsey and a Polish tech holding company Wirtualna Polska have announced the acquisition of 44.5% of store’s shares. The transaction amount is almost €7 million (33 million PLN), MamStartup reports.
- Founded in 2013, Selsey is one of the largest sellers in “home and garden” category with headquarters in Wroclaw, Poland. It offers furniture, interior furnishings, decorations, and garden accessories. In total, the store offers over 20,000 different products and employs over 170 people.
“For Wirtualna Polska, it is also an investment in a part of the e-commerce market that is still new to us, the one where we physically sell products. As a minority investor, we gain the opportunity to acquire new logistic and operational competences from the Selsey founder,”
Aleksander Kusz, VP E-commerce in Wirtualna Polska Holding SA, comments on the investment.
- Wirtualna Polska is a technology holding company that conducts media, advertising, and e-commerce activities. In September 2022, 22 million Poles used the company’s websites and services. In the last 12 months ended in June 2022, the company’s revenues amounted to almost €200 million (955 million PLN).
- Apart from Selsey’s share, Wirtualna Polska will acquire 100% of the shares in Homebook. After the closing of the transaction, the Homebook and Selsey teams will be merged. And Patryk Dżus, the current president of Homebook, will join Selsey’s management team.
