NeuroSYS is a software development studio specializing in artificial intelligence and custom IT solutions for commercial applications. Since its launch in 2010, NeuroSYS has successfully implemented over 58 projects. The company also develops two startups — Samelane, a learning management system that supports firms in knowledge retention and process automation, and Nsflow, a digital platform for knowledge management, remote collaboration with experts, interactive work instructions, and hands-on training.

In the Startup of the Day column founder and CEO of NeuroSYS Tomasz Kowalczyk shares more details about the company, its products, and future plans.

“The Startup of the Day column on AIN.Capital is dedicated to tech projects from all sectors that originated from the CEE countries. If you would like to introduce your project, please fill in the questionnaire.”

Tell us about your startup. How does it work?

NeuroSYS specializes in artificial intelligence and custom software development. We have a separate Research & Development department, a unique feature in the CEE market. Our R&D team conducts research in the field of augmented reality, AI, and deep learning, and develops solutions for commercial applications, e.g., research projects for pharmaceutical laboratories.

We’ve got two startups, Samelane and Nsflow. These platforms aim to help companies in digital transformation.

  • Samelane is a learning management system (LMS) that supports firms in knowledge retention and process automation. It allows its users to create extensive training processes, including events, e-learning courses, or augmented reality training. You can track user progress and KPI implementation through competency assessment surveys and detailed reports.
  • Nsflow is a digital platform for knowledge management, remote collaboration with experts, interactive work instructions, and hands-on training. It takes advantage of augmented reality and has been created with the manufacturing industry in mind. Large enterprises use the system to automate and optimize their business and production processes – onboarding, on-the-job training (with no or minimal trainer involvement), remote technical support, remote audits or acceptance tests, interactive service procedures, etc.

How did you come up with the startup’s idea? What was the reason/motivation behind it?

Back in my student days (I studied information technology), I became increasingly fascinated with artificial intelligence, and I wanted to participate in their future spread. Thus, I set up a company called NeuroSYS, the main focus of which would be deep learning and neural networks. And, by the way, this is where its name comes from.

How long did it take to reach the prototype or MVP? What did you encounter?

To have an MVP ready, it took us 6 months for Nsflow and 8 months for Samelane. Both projects were initially funded internally, and Samelane still is, which posed the challenge of devoting enough resources to working on them instead of commercial projects.

When exactly did you launch your product? Or when the launch is planned?

We launched Nsflow in 2019 and Samelane in 2021. We’re constantly working on adding new features and introducing more automation and AI-based solutions.

Tell us about the startup’s business model. How do you monetize your product?

We sell our platforms in the SaaS model. With Samelane, we offer plans based on the size of a company, with premium features if they need them. Regarding Nsflow, the pricing depends on the module the client is interested in; then, they pay either for the number of users or the number of AR devices. Both products can be fully customized, which we often do for our clients. The changes and tailored features are priced individually.

What are your target markets and consumers?

Nsflow has been designed with manufacturing companies in mind, especially those on the verge of digital transformation that needs to optimize and automate their processes. At the moment, our target markets are Poland and DACH countries.

Samelane is a platform for larger companies, especially the ones that cooperate with a network of business partners, vendors, and franchisees who must be trained to provide services on their behalf. Here we target both European and USA-based companies.

If the startup has already launched the product, what are the results: metrics, income, or any clear indicators that can be evaluated?

Samelane is currently used by 50,000 users worldwide (active users) and altogether there were 500,000 users from the beginning of the project.

What about your team? How many people are working in the startup? If you’re looking for new employees, indicate whom exactly.

In NeuroSYS, we’ve got 115 employees, out of which 12 are in Nsflow and 20 in Samelane.

Have you already raised any investments? Provide us with more details on each funding round: the amount, investors, the purpose of the investment.

In January 2023, we obtained a grant for building a training system for forklift operators utilizing augmented reality (AR) and mechanisms of automatic verification of training activities based on Digital Twin. The co-financing from the EU was ~ €730,000.

Earlier, we received ~ €410,000 for the development of a new method for detection and identifying bacterial colonies using artificial neural networks and Machine Learning algorithms.

What’s next? Tell us about your future plans.

We’re focusing our efforts on developing Samelane and Nsflow, so both platforms become more advanced and answer our client’s needs. Meanwhile, we’re extending our partner and reseller network, particularly for Samelane.
