Norwegian independent ship design company Breeze Ship Design has acquired the Varna-based company Varshyp Design which offers skills in all the fields needed for ship design, marine engineering, and marine consultancy. The amount of the deal was not disclosed.
- Varshyp Deign is a privately owned company, established in 2018. The company has in-house skills within all fields required for the ship design, engineering, and documentation for the construction of ships.
- Established in 2020, Breeze Ship Design has a database that offers insights from more than 4,000 vessels around the world, including some of the most environmentally advanced ships sailing today. Among them are vessels for offshore services, fishing and aquaculture, navy and coastguard as well as tankers, container ships, icebreakers, and passenger ferries.
- The transaction, which began to be negotiated last year, closed in January 2023. No financial terms were disclosed.
“This combination has made Breeze Ship Design a front-runner in the race towards zero-emission shipping. We are currently working hands-on with design and projecting of several vessels that will operate on clean alternative fuels. In addition, we are also involved in CO2 capture and storage, designing two carriers for safe loading, transport, and offshore injection of CO2 with as low emissions as possible,”

- The company’s new entity in Bulgaria will be named Breeze Ship Design Bulgaria OOD and its team will constitute a solid engineering hub in Varna from a long-term perspective. Varshyp Design will have access to international markets and help to strengthen Breeze Ship Design’s engineering capacity via the deal.
