Stockholm-based startup Alba Health that provides digital health support to children has announced the raising of $2.5 million pre-seed round, led by Finnish Voima Ventures. The investment will help to advance its mission to empower families in achieving a healthy lifestyle.

  • Founded in 2022 by Eleonora Cavani, and Professor Emeritus Willem M. De Vos, ALba Health provides digital gut health support to children based on AI and gut microbiome testing. The company is on a mission to improve the health of next generations.

“We still don’t know so much about the gut microbiome. But we have scientific support for the fact that microbial colonization in early life may affect later-life health outcomes. At Alba Health, we start from established science and conduct targeted studies with university partners to support parents with evidence,”

Prof. de Vos, the co-founder of Alba Health, said.
  • The round was led by Helsinki-based VC fund Voima Ventures that recently raised €90 million for Fund III aimed at Nordic and Baltic startups. The UK’s VC firm Octopus Ventures and a group of angel investors also participated.
  • This round adds to $500,000 in financial support in 2023 by the BioInnovation Institute, a Novo Nordisk Foundation initiative, bringing the total financing of Alba Health to $2.5 million in 2023.
  • Alba Heath aims to use the funds to launch the company’s primary product: digital gut health support for children based on AI and gut microbiome testing.
