IBM has announced the acquisition of Apptio from Vista for a whopping price of $4.6 billion in cash, TechCrunch reports. The provider of business management software has an active office in Krakow, Poland where it employs over 120 people.

  • Apptio is an American company that develops enterprise apps designed to assess and communicate the cost of IT services for planning, budgeting, and forecasting purposes. The company co-operates with over 1,800 companies across 20 offices around the world, mainly in Europe.
  • In Summer 2021, the company opened a Product Innovation Centre in Krakow. According to Apptio, the office is designed to attract the most diverse and high-caliber technology talent in software development, product design, and product strategy. Currently, it employs over 120 people and plans further expansion.

  • The acquisition will be made from the current owner the PE firm Vista Equity Partners, which paid $1.94 billion to take the company private, back in 2018.
  • IBM expects the acquisition to come to a close in the second half of 2023, pending regulatory and other approvals.
