Lauterach-based innovative startup subdron has raised €1.3 million in a pre-seed round to advance the underwater structures inspection with autonomous drones. The investment round was co-led by xista science ventures and Faber, with participation from Saber, EU-Startups informs.
- Founded in 2018, subdron specializes in autonomous underwater navigation and data processing for underwater inspections. The startup’s solution enhances Autonomous Underwater Vehicles (AUVs) with vanguard technology and AI to autonomously sense and inspect underwater infrastructure such as port facilities and ship hulls.
- These vehicles enable faster, more accurate, and cost-effective inspections, minimizing human intervention, and maximizing operational efficiency. Furthermore, the technology has the potential to significantly decarbonize the shipping industry and revolutionize maintenance.
- xista science ventures, a renowned VC focused on scientific advancements, and Faber, a Lisbon-based firm with its Ocean and Climate Tech fund, co-led the pre-seed round. The esteemed investor Saber also participated in the funding.
- The fresh funds will allow subdron to accelerate the development and deployment of its cutting-edge technology. It will also enable the opening of a subsidiary in Porto, Portugal.
