Betterspace, an Ilmenau-based provider of software and hardware solutions, has raised an undisclosed amount of investment from Austrian Round2 Capital. The company intends to use the funding to develop its solution and expand operations.

  • Founded in 2014 by Alexander Spisla and Benjamin Köhler, Betterspace provides smart software solutions for the hotel industry in the areas of digital guest communication (better.guest) and intelligent energy management (better.energy). Betterspace’s goal is reducing costs, promoting sustainability, maximizing revenues, and relieving hotel staff.
  • Headquartered in Ilmenau, with a branch office in Kassel, Betterspace now has more than 1,700 customers in 10 countries, and a team of more than 50 people.
  • The investment was led by Round2 Capital is a Vienna-based investment firm with €135 million under management. The firm targets European scale-ups and companies with digital and sustainable business models. Among its recent investments are rounds for Swedish AI video content creation platform Phyron and German crowdtesting provider Testbirds.
  • The startup will use the fresh costs to develop its better.energy solution technically, discover further use cases, and expand it into other industries such as educational institutions, healthcare facilities, and municipalities.
