American-Ukrainian gaming startup GameTree has raised $1.7 million from Corazon Capital, Full Stack Ventures, Goodwater Capital, 32-Bit Ventures, Expert Dojo, and a grant from Overwolf. GameTree will use the funds to further develop its platform, Tech.eu informed.
- The startup was launched by Dana Sydorenko and John Uke in 2019, and provides an advanced discovery app that helps gamers find new teammates, friends and games based on their personality. Gametree aims to create inclusive, non-toxic, and friendship-driven gaming communities on a global scale. Since launching, the team has built a free LFG (looking for group) app for finding gamer friends, where they can get personal game recommendations and coordinate gameplay sessions.
- GameTree currently has 600,000 users, most of whom are in the U.K., the United States and Canada. It currently supports 200,000 games across all platforms, including board and tabletop gaming.
The round saw participation from:
- Corazon Capital, Chicago-based venture fund, focusing on seed and series A.
- US-based Fullstack Ventures, a digital studio that builds media and technology products and companies.
- Goodwater, a consumer tech investor, that empowers exceptional entrepreneurs everywhere to change the world for good.
- 32-Bit Ventures, a VC firm focused on investments in blockchain-gaming, the metaverse, and decentralized tokens of underlying, and middleware protocols.
- Expert DOJO, a startup accelerator in Southern California that invests $100,000 in the US and international early-stage startups.
Following the funding, the team develops a full-fledged desktop application featuring overlay game technology, introducing social feeds, groups, and chat features, and will enable an expansion into B2B partnerships.
