Bulgarian school management platform Shkolo has been acquired by the UK-based Juniper Education, The Recursive reports. The exact amount of the deal is undisclosed, however it will support the development of the edtech product.
- Shkolo was founded in 2016 by Lyubomir Vanyov, Miroslav Dzhokanov, Simeon Predov, and Alexander Stoyanov. The startup aims to minimize bureaucracy and increase parent and student engagement via its administrative and management software platform for schools.
- The software provides a space for communication between teachers, students, and parents, including digital class register learning content, testing materials, and other features. More than 1,800 educational institutions in Bulgaria use their services already.
- Shkolo was acquired by British Juniper Education, backed by the UK-based investor Horizon Capital. The company works with over 14,000 schools in the United Kingdom, offering data management, student progress tracking, school websites, human resource, and financial management, school governance, educational resources, and continuing education services, including teacher and staff training.
- The deal amount was undisclosed. Following the acquisition, Shkolo will be adapted to the UK’s market as an integrated solution with leading market technologies for schools. The deal will also enable the British company to facilitate its foreign expansion.
