Mamio, a Prague-based startup that provides a mobile app that connects like-minded moms, has received €300,000 (7.4 million crowns) round led by Czech Founders VC. Mamio will use it to build additional functionalities and expand internationally.

  • Founded in 2022 by Laureen Höllge, Johana Šperlová, and Karel Hrdina, Mamio develops mobile app that allows mothers to meet each other by baby age and location and share motherhood experience. In addition to this service and discussion forum, Mamio will also create a motherhood guide and a personalized recommendation system for services and products.
  • The application is free for users. It will generate revenue through a personalized recommendation system, selecting products and services that can facilitate motherhood for moms and offering them curated options. Currently, Mamio has 15,000 users in the Czech Republic.

We knew we wanted to create something for women, and motherhood is a life situation specific to them. We felt that the entire parenting forum sector needed innovation, and at the same time, we saw an
opportunity that has added social value,

Laureen Höllge commented on the fresh round.

In the pre-seed round, €200,000 are provided by Czech Founders VC, a community-driven venture capital firm investing into Central European founders. Another €100,000 are provided by Prague-based VC fund PurposeTech. Mamio also received support worth €60,000 as part of the Technology Incubation from CzechInvest. In the past, it went through the ČSOB Startit incubator and received several awards – such as Best Young App 2023 in App Parade or the Social Impact Award.

The startup will use the investment for further development of functions, growth of the user base in the Czech Republic, and preparation for further expansion.
