Genezio, a Romanian developer of serverless platform for building full-stack web and mobile applications, has received a $2 million pre-seed investment round led by Gapminder VC. The funding will allow the startup to implement the go-to-market strategy and develop enterprise features. The company told AIN the details.
About Genezio
- Founded in 2023, Genezio develops a serverless platform for building full-stack web and mobile applications. The startup reunites part of the former leadership team at VectorWatch and Fitbit: the serial entrepreneur Andrei Pitis as CEO, former UiPath-er Bogdan Ripa as CPO, and Bogdan Vlad as CTO, joined by Paula Cionca as CMO.
- The idea of the startup was to build a platform that offers a simpler approach to coding and deployment, making it easier for LLMs to generate the code for both the front-end and the back-end. According to Genezio’s team it will reduce time to market and cloud costs.
Designed from the ground up to be future-proof, Genezio will save precious time for the millions of AI-enabled developers of the future. The robust deployment platform and type-safe calling mechanism maximize developer productivity and reduce the number of bugs. The developers of the future use LLMs to generate code, while Genezio takes care of the rest – deployment, automated testing, and hosting at scale,
Andrei Pitis, CEO and co-founder of Genezio, says.
Investment details
The investment was led by GapMinder VC, a venture capital firm that invests in technology companies created in Romania and Eastern Europe (mainly Moldova, Serbia, Croatia, Slovenia, and Bulgaria), and focused on software and services startups. In February this year, it launched its second €80 million fund, offering initial tickets sized at €2.5 million.
Genezio is operating on a paradigm shift – their products and services are transformative for the developer tools environment. Its vision and state-of-the-art technology help developers and enterprises to drastically speed up the implementation of new and fully automated ways to test and deliver their own code,
Cosmin Ochisor, Partner at Gapminder Ventures, says.
The Bucharest-based Underline Ventures, a fund launched by How To Web founder Bogdan Iordache investing in Eastern European startups at their earliest stages, and several business angels also participated in the fresh financing round.
Thanks to the funds, the startup plans to grow its user base, reach more programmers in their target markets (English-speaking countries), and develop enterprise features.
