Founded in 2020 by Piotr Strychalski, eGabinet was created in response to the need for an alternative to traditional phone or in-person registration to a medical facility. Over the years, the startup grew to develop proprietary solutions and employ the latest technologies successfully used in healthcare, as it helps handle registration, patient history, e-certificates, e-prescriptions. In January 2024, the startup closed a nearly €550,000 round and announced that Karol Sadaj joined its supervisory board.
In the Startup of the Day column, CEO and founder of eGabinet Piotr Strychalski shares the details about the startup’s idea, its product, and the future plans.
The Startup of the Day column on AIN is dedicated to tech projects from all sectors that originate from the CEE countries. If you would like to introduce your project, please fill in the questionnaire.
Tell us about your startup. How does it work?
eGabinet was created as an alternative to traditional phone registration. We offer comprehensive solutions for managing medical facilities and patient documentation, thereby significantly facilitating the work of doctors and medical staff. Our software, which uses cloud technology, offers almost instant access to facility data as well as patient medical history from any device, while maintaining maximum levels of encryption and security.
Moreover, eGabinet delivers e-referrals, e-leave notes, and e-prescriptions to the patient within 14 seconds of their issuance, while also making the doctor’s work easier through a range of suggestions during their writing, related to the recommended quantity of packages or dosage itself,
Recently, we established a partnership with Infomex, which allows us to offer our clients the rental of IT equipment with medical certifications, as well as advanced cybersecurity infrastructure, particularly important for facilities that store patient data.
How did you come up with the startup’s idea? What was the reason/motivation behind it?
Observing the market and speaking with both doctors and patients, I noticed a gap for a comprehensive solution that would address all their challenges and problems. Additionally, the traditional patient registration process was inefficient and time-consuming for clinic staff. It is in response to the need for an alternative to traditional phone or in-person registration that eGabinet was created.
Our goal was to develop user-friendly and simple software that allows medical facilities to fully manage patient appointments and their documentation, thereby significantly facilitating the work of doctors and medical staff.
How long did it take to reach the prototype or MVP? What did you encounter?
Our journey from ideation to prototype was swift but meticulous. It took approximately 2 years to develop our minimum viable product (MVP). During this phase, we encountered several challenges typical of early-stage startups, including fine-tuning the user interface for optimal usability, ensuring seamless integration with existing clinic systems, and navigating regulatory compliance in the healthcare sector.
When exactly did you launch your product? Or when the launch is planned?
Within just six months of inception, we successfully deployed our MVP to clients, marking the beginning of our journey towards transforming healthcare management through digital innovation.
Tell us about the startup’s business model. How do you monetize your product?
eGabinet is working on SaaS (Software as a Service) model, and our plans are tailored to needs of our customers and the number of patients visiting their clinics.
What are your target markets and consumers?
Our product is designed for individuals and companies managing medical facilities. Initially, we dedicated our eGabinet offering solely to private institutions, but recently we have also opened our doors to public clinics and medical practices.
Among our clients are facilities that have been in the market for many years as well as newly established ones, to whom we provide comprehensive software and services, such as the aforementioned cybersecurity protections and computer equipment with medical certifications.
If the startup has already launched the product, what are the results: metrics, income, or any clear indicators that can be evaluated.
Over the past year, the number of doctors using our solution has doubled, and the number of appointments served during this period has increased by over 40%.
What about your team? How many people are working in the startup? If you’re looking for new employees, indicate whom exactly.
Currently, our team consists of 23 members and we are continuously growing. Moreover, I am also focused on expanding our advisory team. Therefore, recently, Karol Sadaj, known from Revolut and Aion Bank, and Dawid Sukacz, one of the managing partners at the private equity fund 21 Concordia, have joined the supervisory board of eGabinet.
Have you already raised any investments? Provide us with more details on each funding round: the amount, investors, the purpose of the investment.
We raised our first round of funding in 2020 from Netrix Ventures. This capital enabled us to refine its software, build a team, and begin broad-scale implementations. At the end of 2023, we closed our second round of a 2,4 million zlotys coming entirely from business angels.
What’s next? Tell us about your future plans.
We are currently working on strengthening our position in Poland, with a strong focus on sales.
Additionally, we are continuously expanding the functionality of our system as well as our range of additional services. Our goal over the next few years is to become the leading software provider for medical facilities in Europe.
