CeLLife Technologies, a Tampere-founded spinoff company providing battery measurement and quality control technology, has closed a €2 million seed funding round led by the Pan-European VC fund Ventech. This funding round will support CeLLife’s development and expansion.
About CeLLife
- CeLLife Technologies was co-founded by Marko Tulonen and Roni Luhtala as a spin-off of the University of Tampere in August 2022. It is a deep technology company specializing in advanced diagnostics, measurement, and quality control for the battery industry.
- Using a cloud-connected measurement platform, CeLLife conducts batteries’ quality tests by analyzing more than 2000 data points within only 2 seconds. According to CeLLife Technologies, its technology helps battery recycling companies better determine which cells to reuse more efficiently, reducing the amount of costly and often unnecessary battery waste.
I believe that the European battery cell manufacturing and recycling industry will gain a significant competitive advantage by adopting CeLLife’s technology. With the new resources, we will be able to better serve our current and new customers and significantly help reduce manufacturing waste (“scrap”) in the battery industry,
Roni Luhtala, CeLLife’s founder and CEO, said.
Investment details
- The investment was led by Ventech, a global early-stage venture capital firm with a digital focus. Founded in 1998, Ventech has dual structure platform, and has dedicated funds for Europe (Paris, Munich, Berlin, Helsinki & Stockholm) and Asia (Shanghai and Hong Kong).
- Since its inception, Ventech has raised nearly €1 billion, realized over 220 investments, and concluded over 90 exits.
- CeLLife’s original investors, Grid.VC and several angel investors also participated in the funding.
The fresh capital will support CeLLife’s expansion into the Swedish and German markets, as well as further development of its cloud-based SaaS model.
