Polish VC firm Simpact Ventures has announced its investment in The Linghos, an innovative speech therapy platform for children. Another Poland-focused investor SMOK Ventures also joined this round.

About The Linghos

  • The Linghos combines medicine, AI, and gaming to diagnose speech impediments in its app. The app can find a problem, build personalized therapy, and suggest appropriate exercises in the form of mobile games.
  • The company was founded in 2022 and has its main offices in the US and Poland. Over 1200 children have already tested the platform.

“The investments raised will enable us to expand our own team of AI developers and engineers, the next final iteration of our proprietary AI algorithm that will diagnose speech defects in children. Thanks to investments from Simpact VC and SMOK VC, we are also concretizing the release dates of the app in countries other than Poland. We will provide more details soon,” Jakub Śledź, a head of product and design department of The Linghos, said.

Investment details

The exact amount of the investment deal in The Linghos remains undisclosed.

Nevertheless, Simpact Ventures has nearly $33 million (PLN 130 million) under management, investing from $100,000 and up to $2 million, while SMOK Ventures usually invests $100,000 – $1 million per one deal. So, the current deal's amount probably starts at around $200,000.

“Speech therapy problems affect 10% of children worldwide - only a fraction of them are diagnosed and supported. Pogaduszki is a great example of the potential for huge scale while operating in a niche market, and at the same time, a solution that brings significant social impact. Until now, speech therapy has been a fairly undigitized field, operating with traditional and sometimes outdated methods. Pogaduszki has the potential to change that on a global scale,” Jacek Ostrowski, a partner at Simpact Ventures, comments.

One of the investors also commented that the current deal is just the beginning of a big series of investments that will be announced this August.
