Finnish AI-driven company Make a BIM has closed its first investment round in less than six months after finishing the PALO 2023 accelerator. Innovestor, PALO 2023 host, has announced the news via a LinkedIn post.
About Make a BIM
-
Founded in 2023, Make a BIM is an AI-driven company creating scalable digital representations of existing structures for sustainable built environments. The software used to create a BIM automatically converts rasterised drawings into BIM models. Both hand-drawn and computer-aided drawings are possible.
-
Make a BIM's program produces IFC2X3 and IFC4 building information models. The startup claims that data plays a crucial role in reducing carbon emissions and waste, as buildings account for 40% of energy consumption and 37.5% of waste in the European Union.
-
Therefore, the startup is at the forefront of tackling one of the world's most pressing environmental issues: developing energy usage and pollution. Its AI-powered solutions are helping to transform the industry, making buildings smarter, more efficient, and environmentally friendly.
Investment details
-
Before the current investment round, Make a BIM joined the PALO 2023 accelerator initiative along with Bout, Granulous, MAJ.works, Kaverisovellus, and HTM Solutions. With the help of the host Innovestor teams swiftly scaled to meet the difficulties set in front of them.
-
Currently, the startup's five-person crew includes two architects, a computer scientist, a mathematician, and a business developer, who have all been working with AI solutions since 2018.
"Innovestor, as our first VC, and their Accelerator program, PALO, provided us with a great learning platform. As a new startup, we gained valuable knowledge and networks to scale rapidly and secure our next funding round within six months after the Accelerator,” Leo Salomaa, CEO of Make a BIM, says.
-
Apart from Innovestor, other investors also participated in the current financing round, including Kiilto Ventures and FiBAN angels (Finnish Business Angels Network (FiBAN)) like Kim Väisänen, Esa Kinnunen, and Teemu Jokinen.
-
Make a BIM's invention has been recognised by professionals, demonstrating its potential for success. In February 2024, the company received first place in the Cities 4.0 open innovation competition.
Make a BIM will apply the fresh funding for improving the startup’s website and its API to create better information models.
