Sunfish Partners, a European early-stage VC firm, has officially launched its second fund, Sunfish CEE II. Since its inception in 2019, the first fund has closed 17 investments in the region.
What is the investment focus?
-
Following the success of the first fund, Sunfish Partners continues to invest in the startups during their pre-seed and seed stages. It also continues to focus on businesses in the health, data, space, and defense industries.
-
This time, the fund's reach goes beyond Poland. Its team intends to invest around 50% in other Central Eastern European countries. The fund will shortly announce its first investment in the Czech Republic, as stated on Sunfish Partners' LinkedIn page.
According to the firm, in terms of venture capital, the CEE region continues to be considerably overlooked, particularly when compared to Western Europe or the US. Many excellent technical entrepreneurs still lack access to funding. Sunfish Partners' objective has been to assist change this and create stronger engagement between Western and Eastern European startup ecosystems since it was founded. Sunfish Partners' second fund maintains this willingness to actively boost CEE startups with support and funding.
