Polish video game development studio Sundog has received around $4.3 million in grant funding from the Polish Agency for Enterprise Development to develop its first game called Ibru, MamStartup reports. The game is inspired by the work of Olga Tokarczuk, the book Anna in the Tombs of the World.
- Sundog is a relatively young gamedev studio founded by Aleksandra Bieluk, Carlos Castanon, Zbyszko Fingas, and Mateusz Blaszczyk. The founders have long experience in the game industry, working for such companies as Fuero Games, PolyAmorous, Ovid Works, Flying Wild Hog, and CI Games.
- The studio is currently working on its first title called Ibru. It is being developed based on the Nobel Prize winner Olga Tokarczuk’s book “Anna In w grobowcach świata” (Anna in the Tombs of the World). Olga Tokarczuk is also a co-owner and member of the supervisory board in the company.
- Ibru's playtime is planned to be around 16 hours and it is expected to launch in 2026.

- Sundog received a total of $4.3 million (PLN 16.9 million) in subsidies from the Polish Agency for Enterprise Development, making it the largest beneficiary in the gaming industry. The company's application scored 21 points, placing it 18th in the application ranking.
- According to the press release, the deal also involves the gaming studio Movie Games, in which Robert Lewandowski is an investor.
This is the second bug financial backing for Sundog. Back in February 2023, the studio managed to secure $340,000 (PLN 1.5 million) from private investors to finance the early stages of developement of Ibru. Sundog will most likely use the current capital injection for the same purpose.
