Prague-based venture capital firm PurposeTech has announced the closure for its first pre-seed fund, supporting Central and Eastern European founders focusing on health, sustainability, and education. The fund told the news to AIN.
-
PurposeTech was founded in 2023 by serial entrepreneur Zdenek Fred Fous and the Czech Impact Hub. It is a global network that supports purpose-driven entrepreneurs, innovators, and creators.
-
The venture capital firm focuses on investing in early-stage technology companies that are making a positive impact on society.
-
The company prioritizes startups with innovative solutions that address pressing global challenges such as climate change, healthcare, education, and social justice.
“More and more founders are motivated by a deep sense of purpose—they want to create a positive, lasting impact. Yet, despite this growing momentum, funding for HealthTech, GreenTech, and EdTech startups in the CEE region, particularly at the pre-seed stage, remains limited. There is a regional bias toward B2B SaaS startups,” Zdenek Fred Fous, Founder and General Partner at PurposeTech, said.
Although PurposeTech does not disclose the fund’s total amount, the firm has already reviewed 1,100 startups and made five investments, planning to invest in ten more over the next 12-18 months despite a challenging fundraising environment. Its recent deals include €100,000 investment in Mamio and participation in Tingit’s €500,000 round.
The fund will continue addressing the funding gap for startups in the CEE region, leveraging the Impact Hub Network's 40+ locations in Europe, to invest in scalable, sustainable solutions for a healthier, greener, and more resilient future.
