The Krakow-based startup DefendEye has launched a fully autonomous Disposable AI Search Drone, designed to support rescue and defense operations. The drone is designed to fly with no need of configuration or engaging trained pilots. The startup annouced the launch to AIN.

  • According to the company's press release, DefendEye's solution is the world's first fully autonomous drone. It can take part in defence and rescue operations and perform civil tasks such as agriculture and infrastructure inspection.

  • The inbuilt AI based solution makes the drone more accurate and faster than human. The drone is able to autonomously take off, scan the area, identify and track humans, and land safely. In addition to the AI system, DefendEye can be equipped with a night-vision camera. And, because its weight is under 250 grams, it be applied for dual-use purposes.
  • The company has also developed a Launch Tube deploying the drone when it detects movement or the presence of a human within a 20-50 meter range automatically, ensuring immediate response without human intervention. This makes it useful for perimeter security and border control.

“We are convinced that our solution will revolutionize the drone market. Its full autonomy, including takeoff, offers a wide range of applications and, most importantly, eliminates the need for hours of training or the involvement of skilled pilots,” James Bucheim, co-founder and CEO of DefendEye, comments.

DefendEye is currently in the process of closing its first funding round with a group of international investors, which will allow the company to significantly ramp up production and fully enter the global market.
