Ukrainian defense tech startup Vidar Systems, which manufactures an acoustic system for detecting artillery and mortar firing positions, has secured $450,000 investment from the Czech venture capital fund Presto Ventures and undisclosed angel investors. The news was announced by the Minister of Digital Transformation of Ukraine Mykhailo Fedorov.

  • Vidar Systems is an acoustic technology startup at the cutting edge of defense and security solutions. According to the company, it employs retail hardware components to build military grade systems aiming to redefine acoustic weapon locating solutions in terms of affordability, efficiency, and reliability.
  • This technology can be used on the battlefield to detect hostile attacks, as well as to enhance the protection of strategic assets and civilian objects. Their products are already being successfully deployed by the Ukrainian military to defend against artillery shelling.

In October 2024, AIN reported on this investment, however, the deal's amount or details were left undisclosed at the time.

Vidar Systems will use the funds to expand its team and scale the production to make it even more convenient to use in combat.

In September of this year, Vidar Systems also participated in the Startup Competition 2024 at IT Arena. The startup took second place in the proof-of-concept track and received $10,000. Meanwhile, Presto Ventures recently made news over its investment in Pibox, another Ukrainian-founded audio, video, and creative content collaboration startup. which secured a $1.2 million round.
