Finnish defense and security technology group Summa Defence Ltd. has announced the establishment of a production facility in Finland to manufacture drones in cooperation with Ukrainian partner companies.
- The aim of the project is to rapidly increase production capacity for the needs of Ukraine and to start industrial production of drones in Europe. Mass production is planned to start in the first half of 2025.
- To implement the project, the company will establish a subsidiary that will organize a joint venture with Ukrainian companies Kort, Elf Systems, Skyassist, and MPS Development. Summa Drones will hold a controlling stake.
- In addition to airborne drones, Finland will also produce ground and maritime drones.
"The demand for drones and their production is extremely high. This equipment will be supplied not only to Ukraine, but also to the countries of the European Union and NATO. Drones play an important role in ensuring critical functions of society in the civil, defense and security sectors," said Jussi Holopainen, CEO of Summa Defense Ltd.
To recap, the Estonian defense company Frankenburg Technologies planned to produce missile systems capable of repelling drone attacks in Ukraine. In case of successful tests and approval for further use, Ukraine may organize the production of these missiles on its own territory.
AIN also reminds our readers that earlier in November Ukraine was ready to test these new air defense missiles from Estonia to combat russian drones.
