Search tech giant Google has announced a partnership with the Associated Press to enable its Gemini AI chatbot to deliver "fresh" information to users, Google stated on its website.

"This will be particularly helpful to our users [Gemini — ed.] looking for up-to-date information," the announcement says.

The amount of the deal was not disclosed, but it builds on the companies' existing partnership: Google's search engine displays Associated Press content in News and Discover.

The American news agency Associated Press was one of the first to sign deals with AI research companies. In 2023, they signed an agreement with OpenAI. The developer of the popular ChatGPT faced several copyright infringement lawsuits from editors last year and has been actively signing deals with publishers such as The Time and the Financial Times.
