Nintendo unveils Switch 2: the new console will be released later in 2025
Japanese game company Nintendo has announced the release of a new game console Switch 2, which will be the successor to the popular model Switch. Nintendo made the announcement on its Youtube channel.
The company has not yet revealed the price of the new device or its technical specifications, but said that detailed information will be provided during the Nintendo Direct online presentation, which will be held on April 2, 2025.
From the presentation of the new Nintendo Switch, you can only learn about what the new console will look like. It is larger and the Joy-Cons are now attached to the housing with magnets. The console has an additional USB-C port on the top and a stand.
The new console has maintained backwards compatibility with games for the first Switch, but some may not work properly. From a number of games, only the new part of Mario Kart was hinted to be compatible.
The Switch, which debuted in 2017, has become one of the most successful consoles in the company's history, selling more than 129 million units worldwide.
