Google has accidentally published information about the launch of its new flagship artificial intelligence model Gemini 2.0 Pro Experimental, but later removed all references to it. A Google spokesperson told TechCrunch that an “outdated release note” was “published by mistake”.

Initially, Gemini 2.0 Pro Experimental appeared in an updated list of changes in the Gemini app, without an official announcement. It was supposed to be the successor to Gemini 1.5 Pro, introduced last February, and offer “better factual accuracy” and “more powerful performance” in programming and math-related tasks.

  • The now-deleted post stated that the model would be available to Gemini Advanced subscribers as part of Google One AI Premium and Google Workspace.

  • At the same time, the company warned that the model was at an early stage of testing and could exhibit “unexpected behavior” and make mistakes.

  • Besides, unlike other Gemini models, the new version did not have access to real-time information and was not compatible with some program features.

With this “release” of Gemini 2.0 Pro Experimental, the company also launched Gemini 2.0 Flash, which was announced back in December. It will become the main version of Gemini in the app in the near future.
