The Ukrainian defense tech company Frontline has started mass production of the Burya robotic turret designed for the Mk 19 automatic grenade launcher. The company shared the details with AIN.

The new Burya turret characteristics

According to the developers, this solution will allow the Ukrainian military to fire from cover, reducing the risks for operators and increasing the effectiveness of combat operations. Here are the main features of the turret:

  • Remote control, aiming and firing at a distance of 50-100 meters;
  • Targeting through the turret control program with a built-in ballistic calculator;
  • Recoil damping system for improved accuracy;
  • Ammunition capacity: 32 - 64 rounds;
  • Weight: 47 kg;
  • Multiple firing modes: single / burst / programmable burst;
  • Switchable between stationary and gyro-stabilized mode.

Currently, Burya is being delivered to a number of Ukrainian units, along with service support and turret operator training.

"Production is fully secured with orders for Q1 2025. Frontline is now working to expand its capacity to meet the military's demand for remotely operated robotic systems," the press release stated.

The startup is gathering feedback from the military to improve the turret in future versions. The company says it plans to combine the turret's targeting system with data from reconnaissance drones to transmit coordinates to the target in live mode.
