OpenAI, the developer of ChatGPT, is planning to enter the TV advertising market for the first time by presenting its commercial during the upcoming Super Bowl, the Wall Street Journal reports, citing its own sources.

The Super Bowl is considered one of the most coveted television events not only in American football, but also in the advertising industry due to its guaranteed huge audience. Special attention is paid to creativity, as Super Bowl ads can generate a lot of buzz.

This year, the cost of a 30-second ad slot during Super Bowl 2025 reached $8 million, which is higher than last year's $7 million. The final game of the NFL season will take place on February 9 in New Orleans at the 83,000-seat Caesars Superdome stadium. The 2024 Super Bowl will be watched by approximately 210 million viewers.

The company is currently negotiating to attract investments of up to $40 billion, which could raise its valuation to $300 billion. In December 2024, OpenAI hired its first chief marketing officer, Kate Roach.
