Sweden's MTG completes the acquisition of Plarium, a game development studio with offices across CEE

Swedish media company Modern Times Group (MGT) has completed the acquisition of Plarium, an international game development company with offices across CEE, including in Ukraine, Poland, and Finland. Previously, the company belonged to the Australian firm Aristocrat Pixel United, which operates casinos and slot machines.

The exact amount of the deal was not disclosed, but according to its terms, MGT will make an initial upfront payment of $620 million, of which $20 million will be paid in 2026. There are also potential payments based on Plarium's earnings and performance. Plarium will now be consolidated into MTG and reported as part of the group's financial results.

In a comment to DOU, Plarium said that the acquisition of MGT will not affect the work of its Ukrainian offices.

"Plarium continues to operate as usual. There are no immediate changes to our teams, structure or day-to-day operations, and game development continues as planned," Plarium commented.

Plarium is an international developer and publisher of mobile and PC MMO games in various genres. The studio's most populari title is Raid: Shadow Legends.
