On February 13, Rakuten Viber opens pre-registration for Ukrainians for Viber Dating, a dating service that is supposed to build on the Viber app. The company told the news to AIN.
In January, the waiting list for the new service was opened in the Philippines, Serbia, and Bosnia and Herzegovina.
"Viber Dating will help Ukrainians meet real people online: all profiles on the waiting list are linked to Viber profiles, and therefore to phone numbers," the company said.
Prior to the launch, Viber conducted its own in-app survey, which found that nearly half of respondents (45%) consider false information in profiles to be a major problem, and a quarter of respondents (26%) consider fraud to be a problem. About 30 thousand people aged 34-45 took part in the survey on Rakuten Viber Ukraine (more than 50% of respondents were under 45).
The dating profile will be separate from users' main accounts, while their phone numbers will be hidden in Viber Dating for privacy reasons.
The link to join the waiting list (works from mobile) for the beta will gradually become available to all Ukrainians within a day. Viber Dating has not been launched yet, which is planned to happen soon.
